I haven't gone back to France for 8 years, so I've greatly missed it. Finally, I got the opportunity to spend two weeks there last month! As you can imagine, I was REALLY excited, even if Keith and Kylian could not come with me.
After flying to Paris, I took the train to spend my first week in the south of France. My first stop was in La Penne sur Huveaune, which is near Marseille, to spend a few days with my best friend Laurence.
I've been wanting to visit Cassis (pronounced "cassee"), because it bears the name of my favorite ice cream ("cassis" means black currant)... and Laurence gladly took me there. It was so pretty, I had a great day (in awesome company!). I loved the paved streets with the beautiful view on the Mediterranean sea and the mountains. We got to shop at the street market for some local dishes, and I bought lavender and soaps. It might sound odd, but it's a specialty of this area.
Enjoy the photos!
Below is one of my favorite pictures of Cassis!
I've been friend with Laurence for 30 years now... We first met in kindergarten! I LOVE this girl!
Street markets are a weekly event throughout France (Paris included). You can find everything there: clothing, food, beauty products... Often, there are artisan products. I love those markets!
